Joining our Generous God – Part 2
Rev. Stephanie Kimec Parker

We are invited to join our generous God. Reread Luke 10:25-37, how are we like the inn keeper and invited by God to be generous? How can we respond when the Holy Spirit invites us to care for our neighbors, friends and coworkers?

God has the ability to multiply out gifts in incredible ways. Reread Luke 9:10-17, how can God multiply our gifts?

Joining our Generous God
Pastor Stephanie Kimec-Parker

We are invited to join our generous God in being generous. In Genesis 1:27-31 we are reminded that we are made in God’s image and God has given us dominion, rule, over the earth. However this rule is to be done as God would rule, with a generous and gracious hand. Because we are made in God’s image, we are to be God’s representatives and reminded that everything is God’s. How can we change our idea of what is ours to the reality that all is God’s?

Pray this week about how you can join God in being generous. We will be bringing our pledges, our commitments, to God this coming Sunday. Pray about how we can join our generous God.

Enneagram Type 9
Pastor Stephanie Kimec Parker

People who are Enneagram 9 have the ability to see both sides and are natural mediators as they exude peace. Who in your life may be an Enneagram 9 and how does it feel to be around that person? How can the Holy Spirit work on you to make you more of a peacemaker as well?

Jonah is a great Biblical example of an Enneagram 9 as he does the exact opposite of what God asks him to do at first. Then we he finally does what God asks of him, we get the sense he just does the bare minimum. How can we be more willing to do what God asks us to do?

Enneagram Type 8

Pastor Stephanie Kimec Parker

People who are Enneagram Eights have a great ability to call out injustices and use their abilities to stand up to those who are taking advantage of others. Where have you seen people like this in your life and when have you gathered up the courage to stand up to others? 2 Samuel 12:1-15 is the story of Nathan, a trusted advisor to King David, called out King David for his sins against God and his neighbors. Nathan shows courage and was called by God to stand up to King David. How can we be Nathans in our world?

Enneagram Type 7

Pastor Stephanie Kimec Parker

Sermon Homework: People who are Enneagram 7s have a need to avoid pain and often reframe past experiences or try to forget them. Sometimes we need to address them to move on. What painful experiences do you still need to work through, perhaps with a trusted counselor or therapist?

The story from Mark 10:17-31 is of a rich young ruler who comes before Christ asking what he needs to do to inherit eternal life. He is told he must sell his possessions and give the money to the poor. What do you sometimes hold in a gluttonous way and may need to consider giving up to better follow Christ?

Enneagram Type 6

Isaiah 41:10:
Do not fear, for I am with you,
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

How does this scripture bring you peace as you wrestle with the uncertainties of life? People who are Enneagram 6s wrestle with anxiety and fear and must learn to trust God and have faith. How have you come to a place of faith in the midst of a storm in life and how can you help others on similar paths?

Enneagram Type 5

Pastor Stephanie Kimec Parker

This week we looked at Enneagram 5 who tend to be more introverted and like to observe. Zacchaeus from Luke 19:1-10 is a great example of someone who preferred to watch than participate until Jesus called him out of his comfort zone. How is Jesus calling you out of your comfort zone?

People who are Enneagram 5 wrestle with the sin of greed, hoarding possession, affection or time. This is a sin many of us wrestle with regardless of our Enneagram number. How can you be careful to not fall into the temptation of greed?

Enneagram Type 4
Pastor Stephanie Kimec Parker

People who are Enneagram 4 reject the division of the world into sacred and profane, they see the whole world as sacred. How can you adopt this in your life and see the whole world as sacred?

The deadly sin for Enneagram 4’s is envy. They can instantly spot who has a more interesting life, happier family, ‘better’ artistic talent, more original ideas, etc. How do you wrestle with envy and overcome it?

Do you have a drive to succeed? Are you an Enneagram 3, and if so how are you inviting the Holy Spirit to work on you? We need people who are Enneagram 3s to help us set and accomplish goals but we also need them to be healthy. How can we help our Enneagram 3 brothers and sisters on their journey of redemption?

How does Jacob’s story in Genesis 25-33 sound like people in your life that you love and may work with? We praise God that both Esau and Jacob came to a place of redemption and could forgive one another and have reconciliation, how can this story inspire us to do the same?
